Oregon Shakespeare Festival
The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is a regional repertory theatre in Ashland that produces eleven plays on three stages during the season from February to October. Traditionally, four of the eleven plays produced each year are by William Shakespeare. Visit website.
Ashland Independent Film Festival
The Ashland Independent Film Festival has been presented by the non-profit Southern Oregon Film Society since 2001. The festival is held each spring over five days at the Varsity Theatre in downtown Ashland and the Historic Ashland Armory in the Railroad District. The festival presents international and domestic shorts and features in almost every genre, including drama, comedy, documentary, and animation. Visit website.
Southern Oregon University
A four-year institution founded in 1926, Southern Oregon University is located in Ashland. SOU specializes in liberal arts, sciences, and select graduate and professional programs, and offers criminology, natural sciences (including environmental science), Shakespearean studies, and theatre arts programs. It is headquarters for Jefferson Public Radio and public access station Rogue Valley Television. SOU is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. Visit website.
